Location of Regeneration Project bucks house price trend and sees a 12% price increase
6th January 2012
Falkirk, in central Scotland, is among 11 towns which outperformed London in a list of the biggest house-price percentage rises over the year published by the Halifax, and that’s great news for Morston’s 200 acre Yours Whitecross project which is located in Falkirk. According to the Halifax Town House Price Survey of the UK Falkirk saw a 12 per cent gain in house prices, the Halifax attributed this to the town’s fantastic location being within easy commuting distance of Edinburgh and Glasgow.? Martin Ellis, Housing Economist at Halifax, said: "Whilst house prices nationally have been largely unchanged in recent months, there have been significant differences in performance in towns across the country.? The two towns recording the biggest rises are both within easy commuting distance of major commercial centres." This is particularly good news for Yours Whitecross, which when complete will feature upto 1,500 new homes, a Yours Business Networks Centre and associated business park together with new retail, community and education facilities.? Yours Whitecross is well located to both Edinburgh and Glasgow, benefiting from access to the M9 at Junction 4, the M8 at Junction 4 and from two local Scotrail stations at Linlithgow and Polmont. Morston Chief Executive David Dodge commented: " We have always been convinced that Whitecross and the wider Falkirk area had an economic resilience and an untapped potential and it is good to see that reports such as this begin to confirm our belief. ?Our Yours Whitecross project will deliver a sustainable community of good homes, good jobs and good neighbours and will draw upon the site’s great location to draw residents and business occupiers from both Edinburgh and Glasgow to a sustainable, well planned and great looking community where there is significant potential for further growth in value" The full Halifax report can be viewed at:?
