The £450million Yours Whitecross community is beginning to move forward as developers Morston Assets prepare to clear the former Manuel Brickworks for development. It was revealed in April that a Planning Permission in Principle (PPP) application was submitted to Falkirk Council for the regeneration of the old brickworks and Whitecross village and, in anticipation of approval, Morston has begun the process of serving notice to tenants currently in occupation on site so that work can begin straight away.
Morston Assets’ Chief Executive, David Dodge, said, “Following the acquisition of the former Manuel Brickworks, it was decided that we would let some of the smaller industrial units to local businesses until such a time that we would need to begin to prepare the site.” He continued, “The short term leases on these units were always on a temporary agreement and we are now having to exercise our break options so that we can hit the ground running when we receive planning approval. We are attempting to find alternative accommodation within the 125 acre site to house the businesses that we are displacing.”
Yours Whitecross will see the development of 1500 homes, 30 hectares of low carbon employment space including a Yours Networks, retail space, leisure and recreation facilities and new primary school – all set within sympathetic landscaping.
